'The feeling of, um, wanting to feel something that you cant feel.'

Frank Ocean interview w/ the BBC.
BBC Sound of 2012.

There is just something so humble, modest, and charming about Frank Ocean that I really like. This video is a nice example of that. Certainly worth a watch, and certainly in some way, shape or form, something I would class as a form of inspiration to me.

'Trying to do whatever it is I do, at a level of excellence, and that's really all I'm trying to do while I'm here.'

Frank Ocean GQ Magazines Man of the Year 2011.

Again, nothing but charming.

'They'd probably say I was bland and boring, but some people would say that was timeless, I dunno.'

Part 4 of who knows how long this could take..

Finals:

All I really have to say for these is, I am EXTREMLY happy with my final outcome. (note the use of capitals!)

All in a days work, ey!

Painting:

Now I start the paint staking job of hand painting everything, as I refuse to use the means of photoshop.. There is also something much nicer about the feel of a paint brush in your hand, than the feel of a computer mouse!

After standing staring at the paint wall, in a local art shop, I finally came to the conclusion of a bright pink paint, which is later wasted on the final outcome, but loved by me non the less.

We can also see the introduction of the top pattern I created from my own hand writing, seen in previous pictures!

Editing:

After drawing out a few swan heads, I was able to scan them in, multiply them, and have a little mess around with the rotation and mirroring. Im slowly begin to see the start of something nice! Thankfully..

Original sketches:
For the past weeks or so, I have been participating in the D&AD awards. through uni, and have been on my way to creating a surface patters/ (dare I say..) textile pattern, to be entered into the competition. Above we can see my original scribbles, beautiful photos taken by my father, and illegible handwriting, all to be used to HOPEFULLY create something nice!

Inspiration overload

Admittedly rushed.

Okay, so here's the thing; this project was rushed, very rushed. I got lazy over the Christmas holidays, a little too comfortable in the fact it was Christmas and there was ALOT to eat, and seemed to forget all about my commitments with Uni, and left this project a little later than I probably should have.

Admittedly, its not the best work I've produced, and admittedly I could have made this a whole load nicer, and admittedly I wish I had have done this a whole load nicer, but things I have gained from this are a unknown love for pattern, which is now coming through into my current project, which I am very grateful for.

I let myself down with the type used as I know I can do 100x better, and I let myself down with the final production as I know I can do 10x better. (not 100x better, because final production is one area I really struggle with.)

But with the feedback Ive had, and the fact it made people laugh whilst reading it, is great news.

Things I have learnt from this project?

DONT BE SO GODDAMN LAZY.

Myself.
